HAT
Start in the neck of the hat and cast on 24 sts with medium gray.
Work back and forth in stockinette (1st row = WS), but knit first and last stitch both on RS and WS (= edge sts in garter). 1st row = WS.
On second row (RS) inc 1 st each side (within 1 edge stitch each side) = 26 sts.
Purl next row from WS. Change to dark gray and K1 row on RS (inc 1 st each side as before) and then K1 row from WS = 1 dark gray stripe.
Change back to medium gray again and K1 row from RS with inc in each side as before, and then P1 row from WS.  It’s now 30 sts on the needle. Cast on 26 sts in the end of row = 56 sts. Cut the thread.

Divide the 56 sts on double pointed needles and continue in the round.
The beginning of the round is from now on in the middle of the original 30 sts (= mid back).  With medium gray work 4 rounds in stockinette.
Make a rosybrownpink "stripe" (1 stripe = K1 round, P1 round).
Then 5 rounds in stockinette with medium gray, then a pink stripe.
Work 3 rounds stockinette and then a dark gray stripe.
Work 3 rounds stockinette, and then a rosybrownpink stripe.
Now start dec: change to medium gray and work next round as follows: *K2, K2 tog*, repeat *-* all around = 14 dec sts = 42 sts remains.
Work 2 rounds in stockinette and dec on next round like this *K1, K2 tog*, repeat *-* around = 28 sts remains.
Work a dark gray stripe.
Then 1 round stockinette with medium gray and at the same time dec as follows: *K2 tog*, repeat *-* around = 14 sts remains.
Work 3 rounds in stockinette and on third round dec as follows: *K2 tog*, repeat *-* around = 7 sts remains.
Cut the thread and pull through the remaining sts.
Fasten thread carefully.
With dark gray crochet 2 rounds with sc around whole hat outer edge.

EAR FLAPS (2 pcs):
With pink crochet 4 ch. Close to a ring with a sl st in first ch.
Ch 2, 11 dc in ring, end with 1 sl st in 2nd ch in the beg of round.
Change to rosybrownpink and ch 1, 1 dc in every st, but at the same time inc by crochet 2 dcs in every 3rd st, finish with 1 sl st in ch in the beg of round.
Change to medium gray and crochet: *1 dc in following st, 3 ch, 1 dc in the 1st of the 3 ch, 1 dc in the same st*, repeat *-* all around, end with 1 sl st in ch in the beg of round.

BOBBLE ON TOP
With dark gray crochet 3 ch, then 2 dc in the 1st ch. Cut the thread and pull through sts. Tie the two threads hard tog so there is a little ball. Fasten the ball on top of the hat.

ASSEMBLY
Sew an earflap in each side on hat, as a continuing of the 30 stitches in the back, and forward along the edge.

MITTEN
With medium gray cast on 24 sts on double pointed needles.
P1 round.
Continue in stockinette with medium gray and stripes described below (1 stripe = K1 round, P1 round), and at the same time on first stockinette round dec 1 st in the beg and at the end of round (dec 1 st = knit 2 sts tog).
Work stockinette and stripes as follows:
4 rounds medium gray,
1 dark gray stripe,
4 rounds medium gray, at the same time of 1st round again dec 1 st in the beg and at the end of round = 20 sts remains.
1 rosybrownpink stripe,
4 rounds medium gray,
1 pink stripe
Continue with medium gray.
When work measures 4 3/8” (11 cm) from cast on edge, make an eyelet round to pull a string through as follows: *1 yo, K2 tog*, repeat *-*.
Work 2” (5 cm) in stockinette after the eyelet round.
On next round make an opening for thumb as follows: (beg of round = in the middle of palm) K3, put following 4 sts on a stitch holder, and cast on 4 new sts on needle. Continue in stockinette in the round until the stockinette after the eyelet round measures approx 4” (10 cm).
Make a dark gray stripe, 3 rounds with medium gray, a rosybrownpink stripe, 4 rounds with medium gray, a pink stripe. Continue with medium gray until work measures approx 6 Ό” (16 cm) from eyelet round (whole mitten measures approx 11” (28 cm).
Place a marker in each side of mitten = 10 sts on each side of markers.
On next round dec 2 sts in each side by K2 tog on each side of markers = 4 dec sts per round. Knit 1 round without dec. Repeat dec on next round = 12 sts remains.
Knit one more round, cut the thread and pull through the remaining sts.
Fasten carefully.

THUMB
Put sts from the stitch holder on a double pointed needle. With medium gray pick up 4 sts on the inside of thumb (in the edge on other side of the hole) + 1 st on each side of hole = 10 sts.
Work in the round in stockinette for 2” (5 cm).
Then K2 tog in each "side" of thumb on following two rounds = 6 sts remains.
Cut the thread and pull through the remaining sts. Fasten carefully.

Make another mitten the same way, but with the thumb in opposite side i.e. K16, put last 4 sts on round on a stitch holder, and cast on 4 new sts on needle and continue in stockinette in the round.

STRING
With dark gray crochet a 20” (50 cm) long ch-string for each mitten.
Pull string through eyelet round on the mitten, and tie a little bow.
